Problems with MTA metrocards?

The metro card that you have now may not work when you want to combine cards at the train station. The reasons for the problems are that the metrocard is damaged or it stops working unexpectedly. It appears that this problem occurs more with pay-per-ride and regular metrocards. This problem can still occur with unlimited metrocards.

What would you do if you have this metro card problem? Did you know that you have a right to make a claim for credit? It doesn’t matter how much money the card has, it is still your money!

In my personal experience, this incident has happened to me when I wanted to add money to a metrocard using the mta machine or combining metrocards, usually with a card with less than $2. The first time the clerk at the station booth said,“ the metrocard is damaged, I’m sorry.” The second time the clerk let me go through the turnstile instead of giving me a claim form and a business reply letter. I recommend everyone to request for the form and write any comments regarding the way you received the form and the reply letter.(The form link and other important information such as metrocard customer service number has been provided at the end of this article.)

The form is for damaged metro cards as well for stolen and lost unlimited cards including the 1-day fun pass. The seven, fourteen, and thirty day cards purchased with credit or debit card should be reported by calling 212-638-7622. Customers of the BX12 bus service should send the original receipt, and make a copy for your records. The rest of the questionnaire is self explanatory and don’t forget to mail the metro card along with the complete questionnaire. Check our video coming soon on youtube!
